Preppy Chic in Covent Garden

Last week Timmy Hilfiger set up his Prepworld Pop-up Boutique in London’s Covent Garden. The American designer has teamed with Lisa Birnbach author of The Preppy Handbook. The Hampton’s Beach style house is meant to open in various fashionable locations. Their next stop on the journey after London would be Stockholm. As a huge Tommy fan, I didn’t miss the chance to have a sneak peak at the beautiful clothes, which celebrate the re-birth of the preppy.

Harvey Nichol's Homage to McQueen

Seeing that I won’t make it to New York’s Metropolitan Museum Retrospective of Alexander McQueen, I went to Knightsbridge the other day for some window shopping. As homage to the talent of one of the greatest British designers, Harvey Nichols will display this month some of his greatest creations. The achieve pieces represent some of the outstanding designs in his career, creating fascination and mixed emotions when first presented on the catwalk. For those, who never saw the pieces in Paris, nor can make it to the Big Apple, here is a taste of the brilliant, one of a kind creativity of Alexander McQueen.

Bicester Village - The Blissful Shopping Experience

A few weeks ago I had to go and see with my own eyes the oasis of sales and discounts – Bicester Village. Now can report back that this place is more than just a myth – the outlet village comprises of some of the most well-known designer names on prices that would make you shop until you drop. And in case this literary happens, the lovely cafes and benches are there to ensure rest and relaxation before a few more hours of shopping and browsing. One single piece of advice – as with sales, timing is vital. Even though items are permanently discounted, the new stock arrives just after the end of the sales in the city. So, baring this in mind, book your tickets and let the (un)sensible shopping begin!

SHOWstudio l Shop

Showstudio’s new exhibition launched last week and I hurried to their Mayfair studio to check it out. Artists like Dan Graham, William Klein, Craig McDean have their works exhibited and on sale. A short film by Nick Knight is also part of the installation. While watching it I kept wondering whether it was available to buy. Or just like a true piece of art it was priceless…and most likely is.
