Chanel Little Black Jacket Exhibition

Last weekend I escaped the crowds of fashionably negligee shoppers marching up and down the Kings Road to find myself in the quiet dimmed atmosphere of the Saatchi Gallery...and Chanel. Her majesty Coco Chanel was everywhere you looked - from Carine Roitfeld's reincarnation of mademoiselle to the aroma of expensive perfume in the air (this is one of London's poshest neighborhoods we are talking about after all). the reason for all that being that Saatchi is the spot where Chanel's new exhibition takes place. The inspiration behind it is one of the designer's most memorable pieces which (like many, many others of her creations) has obtained the status of a must-have item - the little black jacket. Created more than half a century ago, this piece is as fashionable and trendy as ever..if not more. Certainly, after seeing Georgia May Jagger and a 9 year old sporting it on some of the portraits, the age barrier has dropped even lower. Thank you Karl for the Saturday post brunch inspiration....but to be honest, who needs inspiration when it comes to the couture magnificence of Chanel...money would do better! 

Paris on a Whim

I have to confess to a guilty pleasure of mine - jumping on the Eurostar and indulging in a 48-hour walking marathon around the streets of Paris. Whenever the rain gets too much for me I know there is a sunnier place just across the pond full of cafes and bistros to be scouted and tiny shops to be explored. Some might call it therapy, others (like my friend Paul who was kind enough to offer his couch for two nights) see it as a transition to a new life. For me it is one of these adventures (life changing in the long term or not), which make you smile and appreciate the sun shining on the horizon beyond Les Toulleries, Les Champs Elisees, L'arc de Triumph...back to everyday life and an eternity of rainy days, this sun is still somewhere there. Whether it will lead to a scary new move is early to say, but Paris you are certainly more than just a sunny daydream on my agenda.  

Notting Hill Carnival

I simply could not skip the carnival madness this year if only for the fact that the procession of scarcely clad exotic dancers took place outside my home. It was no good trying to hide or pretend I did not like the craziness of it all. Tempted by the sunshine and the salsa rhythms (doing more (improvised) salsa is certainly on my to do list), I put on a pair of shorts and a white tee and joined the happy vibe outside! When a Vogue Street Style photographer approached me I thought she was joking (or just like the rest of us - had lost her reasonable sense in the happy rhythms). For my even bigger amazement, I did find myself on Vogue's street style website the next day. My (failed) attempt to express the carnival's rhythmic feel is all I can see in the published photo. Let's hope there is someone who see style.

Sunny Greece

Just the perfect summer break spent with my family in Greece. On a tiniest Greek island I found myself mastering the art of 'doing nothing' (it did prove much, much harder than I thought) and contemplating the gorgeous nature and the infinity of the blue sky and the sea, which met far in the horizon...somewhere far, far away. I had packed lots of books, most of which were funny chiclits. However, there was one which I got by chance. It is one of these books you would think only 'lost souls' read. Lost soul or not, this book proved to be the perfect read when left on your own, away from the busy everyday life of the big city. It was one of Deepak Chopra's books about self discovery...I know, it sounds like a cliche. However, often we don't even realize how much we suppress in ourselves or how we tend to neglect the emotions we don't want to deal with right now. Long story short, no matter how much pain or how hurt we feel, there is love and perfection in each one of us! We just have to reach out for it, accept it and let it shine. Just like the warm, soothing Greek sunshine, which I know I am going to miss so much!

Ready to go!

I am back at the office today after quite a long holiday. Going back to work after 3 months of traveling and relaxing is quite challenging. However, while going through all my emails this morning I came across these images from the event we held in June. Celebs, bloggers and fashionistas gathered for in a pub in Camden were we had arranged a gig as well as the lovely Zara Martin djing for us...things like that only make me realize that work could be fun. If your job is not fulfilling you, then find something which inspires you every day, let's you be creative and open to new opportunities. If you have found it, then consider yourself lucky!
