Viva Lanvin

"He really is a designer. I mean I want to underline this: This is a man who knows how to cut. And that’s why when he comes out people cheer.”  That’s how Natasha Fraser-Cavassoni described Lanvin’s fall/winter collection. From the model’s haircuts with the immaculately cut fringe to the last piece on the runway it was all about the perfect piece of tailoring. However, when it comes to  Alber Elbaz, tailoring does not mean masculine shapes, nor clothes borrowed from the boyfriend. In Lanvin’s wold powerful women are dressed in his oeuvres of simple daywear cut from a matte stretch material. The clean shapes that openes the show were soon replaced by diagonal pleating that crossed the torso in one direction and shot across the hips in the other.
