All That Glitters

Last week, my good friend and talented designer Lewis-Duncan Weedon presented his latest collection. The sparkling event gathered fashionistas for a preview of LDW Atelier’s latest creations. The hand-made gowns were embellished with Swarovski crystals and must have cost Lewis many sleepless nights. Nevertheless, the final result was absolutely worth it. Just like the icing on the mini cupcakes which the designer himself offered to his guests, the crystals added a level of craftsmanship and magic to the glamorous evening.

Versace for H&M

Rumour has it that Tom Ford is the next big name on the H&M horizon. While gossip spreads around, though, the fashion world was too busy shopping the current big collaboration, which hit the stores last Thursday. I had a chance to preview the collection before the big day and could already oversee the massive interest. The brand announced that 24 hours after the launch, the entire collection, even the menswear range were sold out (there are a few bits and pieces available online). With this in mind, let the countdown and the queues to the next designer project begin!

Hermes Press Day

The accessories ware the umtimate centre of attention at last week’s Hermes Press Day. Not much of a surprise for a brand, which is mainly known for its super luxurious leather goods. The real surprise were the bright tones and bold shades in which came some of the shoes, beach towels, hats and gloves. The Hermes riding boot comes in a strong colourful version. Some of the inspirations this collection are the seaside coasts, Normandy’s resort sights and (here was hiding surprise deux of the presentation) – street style graffiti art.

Buy My Wardrobe

I often come across the dilemma how to look glamorous and not break the bank. I always thought that it is a matter of money, but not any more. Vintage, ebay, outlet – most of the time none of these work for me. Recently, though, I got invited to an event, which gives you the chance to buy luxurious clothes on reasonable prices – think fashion recycling with a glass of champagne in hand.  Bonafide Supernova co-hosts private sales events, which gives you the opportunity to buy some of the most coveted accessories and looks from the runaway with up to 70% discount. After their Buy My Wardrobe soiree last month, the company is organizing another evening of belinis and bargains in December. Check out their website for more details.

Editorial: Statement Skirts

A few weeks ago I assisted Jo Jones at The Observer on a story dedicated to the most feminine piece of clothing – the skirt. This season, mini jupes and statement numbers have a glamorous come back. Pair down with some neutrals and impossibly high heels. Or you could opt for the less high and much more comfortable Repetto dance shoes, which would make you look eleganant and stunning, without the foot ache.

Aquascutum Press Day

What better excuse to have breakfast at the Ivy than to check out Aquascutum’s new collection. The brand’s signature outerwear is much more feminine and sensual this season. The androgynous vibe that reappears on the catwalk season after season in different materials and patterns is now softened with black satin and lace models. The immaculately cut trousers, the female equivalent of Savile Row apprenticeship, establish Aquscutum as one of the top destination for the modern woman who is looking for the ultimate all in one – utility and elegance.
