On the third day of Christmas I wish you all a Merry Christmas and a splendid festive season! This year, the designer Alber Elbaz decorated the Christmas tree at Clardiges. He took over John Galliano, who was responsible for the magical transformations of the London hotel lobby for the past two winters. Elbaz had accessorised the three with his trademark marionettes dressed in Lanvin-designed Claridges’ hotel uniforms. It looks like the holiday is not all about the presents and decorations, but about the people as well!
Earlier this week, Swarovski Crystallized hosted an exclusive shopping event at their London flagship concept store. While sipping bubbly, customers had the chance to discover the latest collection of accessories and jewellery. Consultations as well as stylists were at hand to offer complimentary advices and solutions to any pre Christmas/ New Year’s Eve outfit dilemmas. Guest enjoyed a special discount and a goodie bag with every purchase. To finish the Christmas preparations, the Swarovski team had organized a photoshoot, where decorated by some of the brand’s jewellery, guests could strike a pose and create their personal Christmas cards. Have a sparkling Christmas and a dazzling New Year everyone!
Last month, the gorgeous blogger from Fashion Foie Gras celebrated the launch of her new handbag for the American accessories brand Coach. The collaboration is part of the trend, which sees bloggers taking the role of designers. Susie Bubble and Kristin Knox were among the other online scribers to create a one-off piece for a brand, while The Blond Salad has launched her own shoe collection. Emily’s handbag is the ultimate blogger’s accessory – it is big enough to store all the basics of the fashionista – a camera and a pair of comfy shoes. In fact, the padded front pocket is the perfect size for a digital SLR camera. Practical and stylish, Emily Johnson has managed to create the ultimate accessory for the non-stop working blogger.
River Island’s interpretation of summer 2012 is a wild mixture of colours, fabrics and textures. The inspiration could be traced back in time, from the neoprene digital fabrics of 90s sportswear to the sultry and sexy spirit of 50s Miami. No need to stick to a single era, though. The brand has managed to reinvent the classics, adding contemporary style and edginess to this bolder, bigger and more daring collection.
Last week, my good friend and talented designer Lewis-Duncan Weedon presented his latest collection. The sparkling event gathered fashionistas for a preview of LDW Atelier’s latest creations. The hand-made gowns were embellished with Swarovski crystals and must have cost Lewis many sleepless nights. Nevertheless, the final result was absolutely worth it. Just like the icing on the mini cupcakes which the designer himself offered to his guests, the crystals added a level of craftsmanship and magic to the glamorous evening.
Rumour has it that Tom Ford is the next big name on the H&M horizon. While gossip spreads around, though, the fashion world was too busy shopping the current big collaboration, which hit the stores last Thursday. I had a chance to preview the collection before the big day and could already oversee the massive interest. The brand announced that 24 hours after the launch, the entire collection, even the menswear range were sold out (there are a few bits and pieces available online). With this in mind, let the countdown and the queues to the next designer project begin!
